Munakata Taisha Hetsu-miya, situated in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is one of the main shrines of Munakata Taisha, dedicated to the three Munakata goddesses (Tagorihime-no-Kami, Tagitsuhime-no-Kami, and Ichikishimahime-no-Kami). This shrine has been revered since ancient times as a guardian of maritime safety and navigation. Hetsu-miya, along with Okitsu-miya and Nakatsu-miya, forms the three Munakata shrines, which are also registered as World Heritage sites.

The shrine grounds are enveloped in lush greenery, creating a serene and solemn atmosphere. Hetsu-miya features the main hall, worship hall, and sacred gate, all showcasing exquisite architecture with significant historical value. The shrine also houses many important cultural properties excavated from the Okinoshima Munakata Shrine ritual sites, providing insights into ancient Munakata beliefs and culture.

One notable feature is the "Hassho-gu" within Hetsu-miya, where eight deities are enshrined. This shrine is believed to offer blessings for maritime and traffic safety, protection from misfortune, and good fortune. Visitors pray and receive amulets for their personal well-being and safety.

Throughout the year, Munakata Taisha Hetsu-miya hosts numerous festivals and events, with the summer "Miare Festival" and the autumn "Autumn Grand Festival" drawing large crowds. These events help preserve local traditions and culture, providing visitors with valuable cultural experiences.
