Hakone Shrine is a historic shrine located on the shores of Lake Ashi at the southern foot of Mt. Hakone. It has long been revered as the guardian deity of the Kanto region, and has been the devout believer of military commanders such as Minamoto no Yoritomo. Currently, it is said to bring good luck, ward off evil, grant wishes, road safety, and matchmaking.

A particularly popular spot is the vermilion "Peace Torii" that stands on Lake Ashi. The mysterious landscape created by the lake and the torii is a great place for many tourists to take photos. In addition, at the back of the shrine grounds, there is the Kuzuryu Shrine Shingu, which is enshrined underwater and is known for its benefits in matchmaking and financial luck.

Walking along the approach surrounded by cedar trees, you will be enveloped in a pure and solemn atmosphere. It is a power spot where you can feel the nature and history of Hakone, and is a must-visit when sightseeing at Lake Ashi.
