Shuzenji Onsen Hakoyu is a historic public bathhouse located in the center of Shuzenji Onsen town in Izu City. Its attractive location overlooks the "Dokko no Yu" hot spring, where it is said that Kobo Daishi struck a rock with his dokko to cause hot spring water to gush forth, and the exterior of the elegant wooden building is photogenic. The interior is simply designed with the scent of cypress, and the high ceilings give it an open feel.

The baths are filled with free-flowing water without adding water or heating, as well as hot spring water that has been circulated and filtered for sanitary management, and are characterized by their soft texture and moderate temperature. It is popular with tourists and locals alike, and after a bath you can enjoy the authentic hot spring atmosphere by soaking in the adjacent footbath or strolling around the hot spring town. On the second floor there is an observation space called "Gokkuro" from which you can view the townscape of Shuzenji over the bathhouse.

It combines convenience and historical charm, making it ideal for a day trip, and we recommend combining a visit with a stroll through the bamboo forest path and Tokko-no-Yu hot springs.
