It has been selected as a national special scenic spot, one of Japan's 100 scenic spots, one of Japan's top 100 forest bathing spots, and one of Japan's top 100 autumn foliage spots, making it a tourist spot that represents Hiroshima Prefecture.

Sandankyo is a gorge formed by the Shibaki River eroding granite about 200 million years ago. It is about 16km long, about 100m to 200m wide, and about 100m deep.

In the gorge, there are waterfalls such as Kurofuchi, Sarutobi, Nidandaki, and Sandandaki, strangely shaped rocks and strange stones such as Shobeiiwa and Akadaki, and rich nature.

Sandankyo is a spot where you can enjoy the nature of each season. You can enjoy the fresh greenery in spring, the beauty of the deep green gorge in summer, the autumn foliage in autumn, and the snowy landscape in winter.

To see the Kurobuchi of Sandankyo, park your car at the front entrance of Sandankyo and walk for 50 minutes along the promenade.
