Lake Shinji Sunset Spot Torpa is a terrace-style spot where you can see the sun setting over Lake Shinji and Yomegashima Island directly in front of you. You can safely access the lakeside via an underground passage and there is a parking lot available, making it a great photo spot with a spectacular view.
Torupa is a sunset-viewing terrace located on the lakeshore of National Route 9. Its benches and walkways offer a prime opportunity to capture the sunlight streaming across the lake and the silhouette of Yomegashima Island directly in front of you. Parking is available across the road, and an underground passage provides a safe approach to the lakeside. The underground passage features explanations of sunset views and seasonal photo exhibits, making it easy for first-time visitors to find the best spot. You can check the sunset index and the day's sunset time on the official Matsue Tourism website.

The Sodeshi Jizo statue stands on the lakeshore, creating a unique sunset "prayer" composition. The clear air from autumn to winter accentuates the vibrant gradation of colors, from orange to navy blue. Staying until the magic hour after sunset adds a touch of drama to the view, with the city lights and reflections on the lake's surface. If you're using a tripod, be sure to position yourself so as not to obstruct traffic and respect other pedestrians when taking photos.

The surrounding area is also a great place for walking and running. Nearby are Kishi Park and the lakeside area of the Shimane Museum of Art, so even if it's busy, you can still enjoy beautiful sunsets by heading there.

[Hidden Gems]
・Kishi Park: Capture a "Matsue-esque" composition with the sun setting against the museum and sculptures in the foreground.
・Shimane Museum of Art Lakeside: The sunset is reflected on the glass exterior wall, and photos with the "Lake Shinji Rabbit" sculpture are popular.

[Helpful Tips]
If the Torupa parking lot is full, it's practical to use the parking lot in front of the museum (the first three hours are free) and walk along the lakeside. On windy days, the perceived temperature can drop, so be sure to bring wind and cold protection.
