Mount Maya's Kikuseidai Observatory in Kobe City is one of the three best night views in Japan, offering a panoramic view of Kobe and the Osaka plains. You can easily enjoy the spectacular view by cable car or ropeway.
Maya-san Kikuseidai, located in Nada Ward, Kobe City, is a famous observation deck that is one of the "Three Great Night Views of Japan," along with Mount Hakodate and Mount Inasa in Nagasaki. From an altitude of about 700 meters, you can see not only Kobe city, but also the Osaka Plain and Kansai International Airport in the distance. The night view in particular spreads out like a carpet of lights, and its beauty is so great that it is called the "million-dollar night view." It is surrounded by a romantic atmosphere, and many couples visit it as a standard spot for "Kobe dates."

The most common way to access Kikuseidai is to take the Maya Cable and Maya Ropeway. Starting from Maya Cable Station at the foot of the mountain, the journey up the lush mountains is an attraction that can be enjoyed. From the ropeway gondola, the view of the Kobe cityscape and the Seto Inland Sea that spreads out as you climb is wonderful, and there is plenty to see even during the day. The nature of Mt. Rokko changes with the seasons, and the scenery is especially beautiful during the seasons of new greenery and autumn leaves.

The observation plaza at Kikuseidai is equipped with a glowing floor, a rest area, and a cafe, so you can relax and enjoy the view. Not only is the night view beautiful, but the majestic view during the day is also exceptional, making it a popular picnic and hiking destination. If you visit Kobe, why not experience the breathtaking panoramic view at this "best view spot in Kobe"?

Kikuseidai is free to enter and is open every day.

If you are coming by car, there is a parking lot near the summit.

[Trivia]
The "Kikusei" in Kikuseidai is written as "scooping up the stars". This comes from the fact that the stars are so close that you can almost reach out and scoop them up with the palm of your hand, and the night view spreads out before you.
