Akama Shrine is a shrine dedicated to the Heike clan, who were wiped out during the Genpei War. It is a tourist attraction that enshrines Emperor Antoku, who drowned himself at a young age, and is characterized by its vermilion Suitenmon Gate, reminiscent of Ryugu-jo Castle.
Akama Shrine is located in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, overlooking Dannoura, the site of the final battle of the Genpei War. The shrine enshrines Emperor Antoku, who drowned in the Kanmon Straits at a young age during the Battle of Dannoura, as its main deity, and is an important place that conveys the tragic history of the Heike clan to the present day. The shrine's most distinctive structure is the bright vermilion Suitenmon Gate, said to be modeled after Ryugu-jo Castle, and its gorgeous appearance attracts the eyes of many tourists. Once you pass through this gate, you will enter a solemn space that leads to the main hall.

The parking lot is on the other side of National Route 9.
