Tokoji Temple, located in Hagi City, is an ancient temple where the graves of the successive feudal lords of the Mori clan are located. The Chinese-style mountain gate, the magnificent main gate, and the vast cemetery have a unique atmosphere and are recommended for those who want to quietly experience history.
Tokoji Temple is an Obaku sect temple located in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and is one of the family temples of the Mori clan, the feudal lords of Hagi. Its greatest attractions are the magnificent main gate, the Chinese-style Sanmon gate, and the graves of the successive feudal lords of the Mori clan scattered throughout the vast temple grounds. The Sanmon gate in particular has an exotic appearance that is different from typical Japanese temple architecture and attracts visitors. The temple grounds are spacious, with a well-maintained garden and a historic stone-paved approach to the temple, creating a quiet and solemn atmosphere.

The main gate, Sanmon gate, bell tower, and Daiyuhoden (main hall) are designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan.

The countless lanterns and torii gates make for an impressive sight.
