Shunan Tokuyama Zoo is a relatively small but community-based zoo located in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The zoo is home to about 100 species of animals, including popular animals such as lions, elephants, and red pandas. The zoo focuses on exhibits that recreate the animals' natural habitats, and is designed to allow visitors to observe them in a more natural setting. The spacious elephant exhibit and the exhibit where visitors can see the unique behavior of Malayan sun bears up close are particularly popular.

The zoo's appeal is that visitors can experience getting closer to the animals. In the "touch and feel" and "feeding" times, visitors can touch small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs, which are popular among children. In addition, feeding experiences (fee required, limited number of participants) for lions, penguins, elephants, and other animals are regularly held, allowing visitors to experience the power and cuteness of the animals firsthand. The zoo is relatively compact, so even those with small children can easily look around.

As of 2025, the zoo is celebrating its 60th anniversary and is undergoing a renovation project. New facilities are being opened one after another, and it is expected that the zoo will continue to evolve into an even more attractive place.

Free parking is available behind the main gate and on the north side of the zoo.
