Kongorinji Temple, located in Aisho Town, Shiga Prefecture, is a Tendai sect temple that is said to have been founded by Gyoki at the request of Emperor Shomu. The main hall is a national treasure built in the Kamakura period and features a beautiful irimoya-zukuri architectural style. The vast grounds also include the famous garden "Horai Garden," where you can enjoy the beautiful nature of the four seasons. In particular, the autumn leaves are breathtakingly beautiful, also known as "blood-stained maples," and attract many tourists.

The three-story pagoda was built in the Muromachi period and is designated as an important cultural property.

The Nitenmon Gate was built in the mid-Edo period and is also designated as an important cultural property.

The approach to the temple is lined with moss-covered stone steps, and many stone Buddha statues line both sides, creating a solemn atmosphere. There are many things to see in the temple grounds, such as the three-story pagoda, an important cultural property, and the Daikokudo Hall, where Japan's oldest statue of Daikokuten is enshrined. In this quiet space, you can feel the weight of history and the beauty of nature at the same time.
