Hiyoshi Taisha is said to have been founded about 2,100 years ago, and has long been worshiped as a shrine that protects the Omotekimon (northeast) of Kyoto. Also, since monkeys are enshrined as messengers of the gods, many people are familiar with them as the gods of learning and the arts.

The precincts of Hiyoshi Taisha are dotted with many shrine buildings and historical sites such as the Nishi Hongu, Higashi Hongu, Okumiya, Sesha/Suesha, etc.

Nishimoto Shrine is a shrine that enshrines the main enshrined deity, Onamuchi no Mikoto. The main shrine was rebuilt in 1586 and is designated as a national treasure.

Higashi Hongu is a shrine dedicated to the main enshrined deity, Oyamagui no Mikoto. The main shrine was rebuilt in 1586 and is designated as a national treasure.

Okumiya is a shrine that enshrines Amaterasu Omikami, the main enshrined deity. The main shrine was rebuilt in 1666 and is designated as an important cultural property.

Various shrines are enshrined in the sub-shrines and sub-shrines, such as Yagamiten-jinja Shrine, which enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, and Saruzuka-jinja Shrine, which enshrines monkeys as messengers of the gods.

One of the attractions of Hiyoshi Taisha is the beautiful scenery that changes with the seasons. Cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery in summer, red leaves in autumn, and snowy scenery in winter.
