Nijo Castle is a historic castle located in the ancient capital of Japan, Kyoto, and is a place that plays an important role in Japanese history and culture.
Nijo Castle, built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1603, was born as a flat castle to demonstrate the authority of the Edo Shogunate. It was built with the intention of strengthening ties with the Imperial family, and the castle is surrounded by majestic stone walls and walls, with a magnificent palace and gardens. It is also unusual that it was built on flat ground.

The most eye-catching feature is the gorgeous paintings and decorations of the Ninomaru Palace. The sliding door paintings in the "Sakura Room" and "Matsu Room" are the epitome of Rinpa technique and captivate the viewer. The "nightingale-bari" corridor, which resonates with the sound of birds chirping as you walk through it, is a surprising device that serves both as security and a performance.

Nijo Castle, which was the stage for the restoration of imperial rule in 1868, became an important stage in Japan's modern history. Its historical value as the place where the "Five Articles of the Imperial Oath" was issued is exceptional. The Ninomaru Palace has been designated a national treasure, and Nijo Castle, a registered World Heritage Site, is a famous spot where you can experience culture and history.
