This shrine is located on the middle of Mount Otoko and can be seen from a hilltop away from Himeji Castle. The summit is a small park with flower beds.
Otokoyama Hachimangu Shrine is a historic shrine located on the summit of Mt. Otokoyama, located northwest of Himeji Castle. It is said to have been founded about 1,300 years ago during the Nara period, and has long been worshipped by local people as a shrine that brings good luck, protection from misfortune, and prosperity to descendants.
When Himeji Castle was built, a branch of the Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine in Kyoto was enshrined there.

It is a long staircase of about 194 steps to climb, but it is recommended for those who want to see Himeji Castle from a different angle. The beautiful view at the top makes it a popular photo spot.

It is about a 15-minute walk from Himeji Castle.
