Located in Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Suyama Sengen Shrine is a historic shrine surrounded by nature at the southern foot of Mt. Fuji. Known since ancient times as the center of worship of Mt. Fuji, the main shrine, which is said to have been founded in the Heian period, has been loved by many worshippers as a symbol of mountain worship. The grounds are spacious, and the hundreds of years old cedar and cypress trees create a tranquil atmosphere, harmonizing with the changing colors of nature with each season. It also plays an important role as the starting point of the Suyamaguchi mountain trail, and many mountain ascetics have visited it as a training ground for Shugendo.
