It is a hand-made hot spring located on the bank of the Pausibetsu River, and the spring quality is a weak salt spring. It is a mixed open-air bath.
Karamatsu no Yu has been used by the Ainu people for about 300 years. After that, until the 1970s, it was used as lodging for national forest staff. Currently, it is managed by local volunteers and can be used free of charge.

Bath towels are OK, but swimsuits are not, so women may be reluctant.
