Kurokawa Onsen is a popular hot spring resort located in Minamioguni-machi, Aso-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture, that stretches for about 1.6 kilometers along the Tanohara River, a tributary of the Chikugo River. By purchasing a "bath pass" (1,500 yen each), you can freely visit three open-air baths at 24 participating inns. Strolling around the hot spring town in a yukata and clattering geta sandals, and bathing in a variety of unique open-air baths, is an experience that is unique to Kurokawa Onsen.
