The greatest attraction of this temple is its historical architecture and the expressive "Gohyaku Rakan (500 Arhats)". Arhats are saints who have undergone Buddhist training, and Kita-in Temple has about 500 stone statues lined up. Each arhat statue has a variety of expressions, from joy to anger to sadness to pleasure, so you will never get bored just looking at them. You can have fun strolling around, searching for an arhat that resembles you or one with a unique expression.
Kitain Temple is a place where you can not only experience history and cultural assets, but also enjoy the beautiful nature of the four seasons. Cherry trees and maple trees are planted within the temple grounds, and many people visit the temple as a famous spot for cherry blossoms in the spring and autumn leaves in the fall. It is a good idea to combine your visit with a stroll around Kawagoe's "Little Edo."
It is about a 15-minute walk southeast from the "Toki no Kane" area.
