This castle is located in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 most famous castles.

The most distinctive feature of Takaoka Castle is the vast water moat and the shape of the kuruwa (a division within the castle), which has remained almost completely since the castle was first built.

The surrounding area is Takaoka Kojo Park, and in the spring it has been selected as one of the 100 Best Cherry Blossom Spots in Japan under the name of cherry blossoms.
