The Senmaida of Yotsuya was created using mountain spring water about 400 years ago. Surrounded by stone walls, terraced rice fields prevent soil erosion even during heavy rains and play a role in accumulating abundant water sources.
Yotsuya's Senmaida has been selected as one of Japan's Top 100 Terraced Rice Fields for its beautiful scenery.
