Nagi Museum of Contemporary Art (commonly known as Nagi MOCA) in Nagi Town, Okayama Prefecture, is a contemporary art museum in the town, famous for its columnar building, designed by world-renowned architect Arata Isozaki.
The greatest attraction of Nagi Museum of Contemporary Art is that it is a "site-specific art" that completely integrates architecture and art. In the "Sun Room," a three-dimensional maze-like space spreads out, and you can experience a fantastic world of light and shadow. In the "Moon Room," a circular space is filled with water, and the reflection of light and sound create a quiet, meditative atmosphere. And in the "Earth Room," standing in front of a huge earthen wall, you feel as if you are being enveloped by the earth. Each room is designed so that you can not only look at the artwork, but also feel the entire space with your body and experience art with all five senses.

This museum is attractive because the artwork and the space are inseparable, and there is something new to discover every time you visit. In particular, the impression of the space changes greatly depending on the way the light enters and the weather, so you can get a fresh impression no matter how many times you visit. Photography is also allowed, so it is a good idea to take memorable photos with the unique art space as a backdrop.

The exterior of the museum is characterized by a geometric design that is typical of Arata Isozaki, and its harmony with the surrounding nature is also a highlight. The museum itself can be said to be a huge work of art. Unlike urban art museums, this is the perfect place for those who want to immerse themselves in the world of contemporary art in a quiet and calm environment.
