Genkyuen Garden, located in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, is a feudal lord's garden built in the early Edo period, located north of Hikone Castle. This beautiful strolling garden with a pond was named after the "Eight Views of the Xiaoxiang Dynasty," which were selected by the fourth lord of the Hikone domain, Ii Naoki, in reference to the Eight Views of the Xiaoxiang Dynasty in China. A large pond spreads across the garden's center, creating a stunning landscape with its bridge spanning it, a teahouse, and the backdrop of Hikone Castle's castle tower.

Genkyuen Garden's greatest attraction is its beautiful scenery, which can be enjoyed throughout the year. It displays different expressions throughout the year, from cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery in summer, autumn leaves in autumn, and snowscapes in winter. During the autumn foliage season, the entire garden is bathed in reds and yellows, creating a stunning contrast with the castle tower of Hikone Castle. The scenery reflected in the pond is also fantastic, making it the perfect spot for photography.
