Himeji Castle was extensively renovated by Ikeda Terumasa between 1601 and 1609, and was completed as a magnificent castle with over 400 years of history. 83 structures, including the main tower, have been designated as national treasures and important cultural properties, and many of them still exist today. The towers, characterized by their white plaster walls, are also known as "warless castles" because they miraculously escaped the large-scale wars of the Sengoku period. The castle is full of sights, such as complex stone walls and passageways equipped with defensive mechanisms, and you can experience the high level of castle-building technology at the time.

By touring the inside of the castle tower, you can learn in detail about the lives of the samurai at that time and the structure of the castle. From the top floor, you can see the city of Himeji and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea in the distance, and the spectacular view is overwhelming. In addition, "Koukoen Garden", adjacent to the south side of the castle tower, was developed as a feudal lord's garden, and you can enjoy beautiful Japanese gardens in all four seasons.

The "Egle Himeji Rooftop Observation Garden" is a hidden spot where you can get a full view of Himeji Castle from the front. It is located on the 5th floor rooftop of the "Egle Himeji" complex on the south side of Otemae Park, and admission is free. There are benches, making it the perfect place to take your time and enjoy the castle.
