By touring the inside of the castle tower, you can learn in detail about the lives of the samurai at that time and the structure of the castle. From the top floor, you can see the city of Himeji and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea in the distance, and the spectacular view is overwhelming. In addition, "Koukoen Garden", adjacent to the south side of the castle tower, was developed as a feudal lord's garden, and you can enjoy beautiful Japanese gardens in all four seasons.
Himeji Castle's main tower was restored to its original white color after repairs were completed in March 2015.
The white color has become so controversial since the renovations, but it is also known as "White Heron Castle" and there is a theory that this comes from the white of the white plaster, and that the original white color is the original color.
It seems that the white color will not last long, so now is the chance to take a photo of it.
Now that I think about it, it seems good that it is white. It is even more beautiful up close.
The "Himeji City Zoo" near the entrance is a great place to see various animals, with admission fees of 200 yen for adults and 30 yen for children, so it is recommended for families with small children.
Also, about 20 minutes away by car is Shoshazan Engyo-ji Temple, famous as the location for the movie "The Last Samurai" starring Tom Cruise, so if you have time, be sure to check it out too.
[Hidden Spot Information]
The "Egle Himeji Rooftop Observation Garden" is a hidden spot where you can get a full view of Himeji Castle from the front. It is located on the 5th floor rooftop of the "Egle Himeji" complex on the south side of Otemae Park, and admission is free. There are benches, making it the perfect place to take your time and enjoy the castle.
