Shikemichi is a townscape preservation district formed during the Edo period, located along the Horikawa River in Nishi Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture.
The history of Shikemichi begins with the construction of Nagoya Castle in 1610. Commercial activities that took advantage of the Horikawa's boat transport flourished, and a merchant town called Ofuna-cho was formed.
The townscape from the Edo period remains, with storehouses built on top of stone walls and rows of townhouses lined up along the street.
