Hayashi Genjuro Shoten, located in Kurashiki's Bikan Historical Quarter, is a complex that was renovated from a former pharmacy that is over 80 years old. It is filled with carefully selected items related to food, clothing and shelter, allowing you to experience the richness of Kurashiki life. There are eight stylish general goods stores and a cafe on-site.
Hayashi Genjuro Shoten opened in 2012 after renovating a historic building built in 1934. Named after Hayashi Genjuro, who once ran a pharmaceutical company here, the mall is a collection of attractive shops related to clothing, food, and housing, with the theme of "rich living." The mall consists of four buildings: a three-story wooden main building, a storehouse, a detached building, and a main house, and is home to a variety of unique stores with ties to Kurashiki. Each store offers carefully selected products and services, so you can have a fun time just visiting each one.

The first floor of the main building has Achi Branch (lifestyle design goods) and a cafe, the second floor has the shop Miyake Shoten (tableware and crafts), and the third floor has a rooftop observation terrace, from which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful townscape of Kurashiki's Bikan district. The view from the rooftop is particularly great for taking photos, as you can enjoy the Kurashiki-like landscape of a row of white-walled storehouses from a high vantage point. Each building has its own unique charm, such as an apparel shop in the annex and a workshop where you can experience indigo dyeing in the storehouse. The showroom for "Jouro" will be relocated at the end of March 2025, and a new showroom is scheduled to reopen in early summer, further enhancing the value of the experience.

You can see the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter from the rooftop, so it's worth going up there.
