Amanoiwato, located in Erihara, Isobe-cho, Shima City, is a legendary cave where Amaterasu Omikami is said to have lived in hiding.

The cave is located near Izanomiya, a separate shrine of Ise Jingu, in a quiet area surrounded by trees. In the depths of the cave, there is spring water, which has been selected as one of the 100 famous waters.

It takes about 20 minutes by car from Ise Jingu.
