The greatest attraction of this shrine is the magnificent "corridor" that is about 360 meters long. The corridor, which continues while gently curving in an S-shape along the natural terrain, creates a beautiful landscape that changes with the seasons. Its beauty is particularly striking during the seasons of new greenery and autumn leaves, and it is also a popular photo spot. Walking through the corridor is a special experience, as if you are touring a sacred space.
Kibitsu Shrine is also famous for the Narukama Shinji, a ritual associated with the Momotaro legend. This ritual, in which fortune is told by the sound of the kettle being rumbled, is rare nationwide and attracts the attention of worshippers. Momotaro charms and votive plaques are also popular and make the perfect travel mementos. Kibitsu Shrine, which combines history, legend, and beautiful architecture, is a power spot that cannot be missed when visiting Okayama.
[Trivia]
Kibisu Shrine is the place where Kibitsuhiko-no-Mikoto, who is said to have defeated Ura, the model for Kibitsuhiko Shrine, is said to have buried Ura's head. There is a legend that the Narukama Shinji started to appease the curse of Ura.
[Hidden Spot Information]
Behind the main shrine is the Kibitsu Shrine Gokuden, and the surrounding area is filled with seasonal flowers, creating a quiet and calm atmosphere. You can also catch a glimpse of the Narukama Shinto ritual taking place at the "Okamaden" hall located halfway through the corridor. If you have time, we recommend taking a detour down one of the side paths of the corridor and strolling through the forest rich in nature.
