Located next to the Tottori Sand Dunes, this is the world's only art museum made entirely of sand. Delicate and dynamic sand sculptures are exhibited for a limited time, allowing you to experience a different experience every time you visit.
The Tottori Sand Dunes Sand Museum is a unique museum in the world that exhibits sculptures made primarily from sand, as its name suggests. Each year, the world's top sand artists create elaborate and impressive sand sculptures with a different theme. The exhibition is limited to a certain period, and the sand is returned to its original state after the exhibition ends, so you can experience art that is truly "ephemeral yet beautiful."

The sand sculptures are solidified using only water and sand, and no adhesives are used. Their delicate expressiveness and large scale are overwhelming, and they are moving in ways that cannot be fully conveyed in photographs. World history, culture, and mythology are expressed in sand according to each theme, and you can feel as if you are traveling around the world through sand art. There are also days when the museum is lit up at night as a projection mapping event, so you can enjoy the works in a fantastic atmosphere.

Exhibitions are held with a different theme each year, and you can enjoy the world's best sand sculptures.

[Trivia]
Once a sand sculpture is created, it is all taken down for the next exhibition. This is because the Sand Museum's concept is "ephemeral yet beautiful sand art."

[Hidden gem]
The rooftop of the museum has an observation terrace, from which you can see part of the Tottori Sand Dunes and the Sea of Japan. It's a good idea to enjoy the view outside between exhibits.

[Useful points of concern]
The exhibition theme changes every year, so we recommend checking the official website in advance to find out the theme and exhibition period for that year. The museum is closed during the exhibition change period, so be careful about when you visit.
