This is a memorial museum in Yamaguchi City that tells the story of the genius poet Nakahara Chuya, who died young. You can delve deeply into the world of poetry and his life, and immerse yourself in the charm of literature.
The Nakahara Chuya Memorial Museum was built in the birthplace of Nakahara Chuya, a poet who left a huge mark on modern Japanese literature. Although Chuya passed away at the age of just 30, the many poems he created during his short life are still loved by many people today. At the museum, you can learn about Chuya's worldview of poetry, his interactions with fellow writers, and his turbulent life through valuable materials such as his handwritten manuscripts, letters, and favorite items.

The museum also has exhibits that visually express the words and scenes that appear in Chuya's poems, allowing visitors to experience the world of poetry more deeply. Video and audio are also used to make it easy for even those who are not familiar with poetry to become familiar with Chuya's literature. You can think about the background of how the masterpieces included in his poetry collections "Song of the Goat" and "Songs of the Past" were created.

His birthplace burned down in 1972.

In front of the premises there is a stylishly decorated foot bath called Kitsune no Ashiato (Foot Bath Cafe) which is available for a fee.
