This railway museum in Tsuyama City, Okayama Prefecture, is a repurposed roundhouse locomotive shed that offers a fun way to learn about the history and mechanics of railways.
"Tsuyama Learning Railway Museum" is a railway museum that reused the facility that was once used as the Tsuyama roundhouse. It is the second largest roundhouse after the Kyoto Railway Museum (formerly the Umekoji Steam Locomotive Museum) in terms of size, and its historical value is very high. This huge roundhouse exhibits many valuable real vehicles, including diesel locomotives and diesel railcars that were actually in operation, and you can see them up close. It is a facility that can be enjoyed not only by railway fans, but also by children and adults alike.

Although there are not many, the museum is divided into exhibition zones with various themes, such as the "Learning Gallery," "City Room," "Mechanism Room," and "History Room." You can learn about the mechanism of railways through models and videos, trace the history of Tsuyama's railways, and experience being a driver in a driving simulator, and you can learn more about the charm of railways while having fun. In particular, the event where you can see the turntable of the roundhouse actually operating is very impressive and entertains many visitors.
