Located in Teshima, Kagawa Prefecture, this unique art museum blends seamlessly into the landscape. The art space created by natural light and water stimulates the five senses. It has attracted a lot of attention overseas.
"Teshima Art Museum" is a unique art museum created by architect Ryue Nishizawa and artist Rei Naito, located quietly in the rich nature of the Seto Inland Sea. The building itself is a work of art, a huge concrete shell shaped to blend into the earth. There are no pillars inside, and natural phenomena such as natural light, rain, and wind are directly absorbed through two large holes in the ceiling, creating an art space that changes its appearance from moment to moment.

The experience of the museum begins even before entering the building. By becoming one with the surrounding rice terraces and the view of the Seto Inland Sea, and placing yourself in nature, you will be mentally prepared. Inside, the light that shines through the holes in the ceiling is reflected on the floor, and water droplets that move like living creatures quietly question the viewer's heart. By sharpening your five senses and experiencing "living art" woven by natural elements such as light, sound, water, and wind, you will be able to experience deep emotions and discoveries that you cannot experience in your daily life.

To access Teshima, take a boat from Uno Port in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, bound for Tonosho Port on Shodoshima. You can disembark at Teshima Ieura Port and Karato Port. The museum is about a 15-minute walk from Karato Port.

The ride from Uno Port to Teshima (Ieura Port) is about 40 minutes by ferry and 25 minutes by passenger ship.

Other tourist spots besides the museum include the Karato Rice Terraces, Tadanori Yokoo's Teshima Yokoo House, and the Archive of Heartbeats.
