Built in 1993 to commemorate the opening of Hiroshima Airport, it does not have a long history, but it is a vast pond-style garden of about 6 hectares, created with the motif of three scenic spots representing Hiroshima Prefecture: the beauty of the Seto Inland Sea's islands, the mountain ranges of the Chugoku Mountains, and the valleys of the prefecture. As you walk around the garden, you will see ponds reminiscent of the islands of the Seto Inland Sea, artificial hills expressing the grandeur of the Chugoku Mountains, and mountain streams, creating a space that seems to condense the rich nature of Hiroshima Prefecture.

The charm of Sankeien Garden is, above all, the beautiful changes with the seasons. It shows various expressions throughout the year, with cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring, fresh greenery and hydrangeas in summer, fiery autumn leaves in autumn, and snowy scenery in winter. Especially during the autumn leaves, the colorful trees are reflected on the surface of the pond, creating a breathtaking view. There is also a teahouse in the garden, where you can enjoy tea while looking at the beautiful scenery.
