Kenchoji is a temple built in the Kamakura period in Kamakura.
As a Zen temple, Kenchoji has played an important role in the history of Japanese Buddhism. In addition, the temple within the temple grounds retains the style of a Zen temple from the Kamakura period, and has been designated as a national treasure and important cultural property.

It's about a 15 minute walk from Kita-Kamakura Station on the JR Yokosuka Line.
It is about a 10 minute walk from Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
