Approximately 1,200 species of freshwater fish are on display, with the theme of freshwater fish from all over the world, from the headwaters of Gifu Prefecture's clear Nagara River to its mouth.

We exhibit freshwater fish from the source of the Nagara River to the estuary. You can experience the rich ecosystem of the Nagara River, from familiar fish such as cherry salmon, sweetfish, and yamame to the mythical Japanese ito.

The World Freshwater Fish Zone exhibits freshwater fish from all over the world, including the Amazon River and the Congo River. You can see a variety of freshwater fish, including giant catfish and beautiful tropical fish.
