Tochoji Temple is a temple with a history dating back to the Heian period, located in Hakata, Fukuoka City, and is famous for its large wooden Buddha statue, old carvings, and exhibits.
Tochoji Temple is said to have been founded by Kobo Daishi (Kukai) in the first year of Daido (806).

The Great Buddha Hall is home to the Fukuoka Great Buddha, which is one of the largest seated wooden statues in Japan.

The statue of Senju Kannon Bodhisattva in the main hall is designated as a national important cultural property.
