Onioshidashi Park is a rare lava formation, formed from the solidification of lava flowing from the 1783 eruption of Mount Asama. Its unique landscape resembles a raging demon pushing out the rocks, hence the name "Onioshidashi." Walking along the promenade lined with rugged, oddly shaped rocks, you can feel the dynamic energy of the earth. The unique rock formations resemble works of art created by nature, and are truly awe-inspiring.

The park is also home to Mount Asama Kannon Hall, which is said to ward off evil and bring good fortune. From the elevated Kannon Hall, you can gaze upon the sea of lava below and the majestic Mount Asama at the same time. On clear days, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the Joshinetsu mountain range, including the Northern Alps and Mount Kusatsu-Shirane. In particular, during the seasons of fresh greenery and autumn leaves, the contrast between the black of the lava and the green and red of the plants is beautiful, making for a spectacular view that is perfect for photos.
