Eshima is a rock on the northern coast of Awaji Island. Also known as Onokoro Island, it is said to be the birthplace of Japan.
Eshima is said to be one of the legendary places of Onokoro Island, which appears in the myth of the birth of the country. It is believed that the beauty of the shape, which has been washed by the wind and waves over many years, was created to resemble Onokoro Island, set against the backdrop of the Akashi Strait, where Ama lived.

The municipal parking lot at Iwaya Pier is available for free for up to 1 hour.
