This is the family temple of the Tokugawa family founded in 1651 in Nagoya City.
It was built in 1651 by Mitsutomo Tokugawa, the second lord of the Owari Tokugawa family, to mourn the death of Yoshinao Tokugawa, the first lord of the Owari domain. The main buildings, including the main hall, temple gate, main gate, and sutra storehouse, were built in the early Edo period and have been designated as national important cultural properties.

In the precincts, there are many historical remains such as the Tokugawa family mausoleum and the grave of Mito Komon. You can also enjoy the beautiful scenery with flowers blooming in every season.

Kenchuji Temple is one of the most historical temples in Nagoya City and is loved by many people.
