Located in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, this castle is selected as one of Japan's top 100 castles.
In 1576, during the Sengoku period, Katsutoyo, the nephew of Katsuie Shibata, built the castle on the orders of Nobunaga Oda as a preparation for the Ikko Ikki.

The castle tower of Maruoka Castle is a three-tiered, three-story gambrel-style, wooden watchtower-shaped castle tower, which is the oldest remaining architectural style among existing castle towers.

There is controversy as Inuyama Castle and the oldest surviving castle tower.

Also known as "Kasumigajo", the appearance of floating in the cherry blossoms in full bloom in spring is fantastic and exceptionally beautiful.
