OPAM, an art museum designed by Shigeru Ban, is a "veranda open to the city." With an exterior reminiscent of bamboo crafts, a rich collection, and a convenient location, it is the perfect base for sightseeing in Oita.
OPAM's themes are "A Museum of the Five Senses" and "A Museum of Encounters."

The first floor is designed with a large atrium and movable walls, gently connecting the town and the exhibits. The south side features huge glass folding doors that, when opened, quickly transform into a "veranda" space that blends seamlessly with the street. The free-entry zone's shops and cafes are easy to use on a daily basis, and the museum is also a popular photo spot for architecture enthusiasts.

The exhibits offer a diverse range of experiences, including exhibits by artists with ties to Oita and bamboo crafts, allowing visitors to "see, learn, and enjoy." In addition to the collection exhibition, there are also guided programs and backstage tours, ensuring high satisfaction for everyone from family vacations to art fans.
