Located in the mountains at an altitude of about 400m, this is the place where Kobo Daishi (Kukai) practiced asceticism at the age of 7, and there is a legend that he threw himself off a cliff while chanting "Save me." At that time, Shaka Nyorai is said to have appeared and saved the Daishi. In honor of this legend, this place is also called "Sutemi-ga-take."

It takes about 30 minutes to climb a steep mountain path, but the view from the top is amazing, with the townscape of Zentsuji City spreading out below.

In the inner sanctuary, there are stone Buddha statues and small shrines, and worshippers can be seen quietly praying. As a place of asceticism associated with Kobo Daishi, it is a popular spot not only with pilgrims and monks, but also with ordinary climbers and tourists.
