Funakamiyama is a mountain with an altitude of 687 meters located in Kotoura Town, Tottori Prefecture. One of the Daisen Mountains, it is believed that the lava flow that erupted from the activity of the ancient Daisen volcano was eroded over a long period of time, forming a unique mountain shape.
Mount Funakami is said to have been the birthplace of Shugendo, where mountain Buddhism prospered from the early Heian period, together with Mt. Daisen and Mt.

In 1333, Emperor Godaigo escaped from the pursuit of the Hojo clan and barricaded himself on Mount Funakami. This event marked a major turning point in the history of the restoration of Kenmu.

Mt. Funakami is still popular as a sacred place of mountain Buddhism, and there are Funakami Shrine and the remains of the imperial palace where Emperor Godaigo shut himself up at the summit. At the foot of the mountain is Funakamiyama Manbonzakura Park, where about 10,000 cherry trees bloom in spring.

There is a hiking trail that takes about an hour.
