Fukuyama Castle was built by Mizuno Katsunari in the early Edo period and is a beloved symbol of Fukuyama City. It is designated as a national historic site, and the castle tower was destroyed in a war but rebuilt in 1966. Inside the castle tower is the Fukuyama Castle Museum, which displays documents related to the history of Fukuyama Castle and the successive feudal lords, as well as weapons and armor. From the top floor, you can get a panoramic view of Fukuyama city, and the view on a clear day is particularly spectacular.

The entire castle is maintained as Fukuyama Castle Park, and is also famous as a cherry blossom viewing spot. In spring, about 300 cherry trees bloom, attracting many visitors. In autumn, the autumn leaves are also beautiful, and you can enjoy the scenery of each season. The vast grounds are dotted with buildings that are still designated as important cultural properties, such as the Tsukimi Yagura Tower and the Sujigetsu Gomon Gate, and you can enjoy a stroll while feeling the historical atmosphere.

It is adjacent to the north side of Fukuyama Station, so it is easily accessible by train.

The park grounds are also home to facilities such as the Fukuyama Art Museum and the Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of History.

[Hidden gem]
The Ninomaru ruins on the south side of the castle tower are known for being a great place to take beautiful photos with the tower in the background. The tower is also lit up at night, creating a fantastical sight.
