Todaiji Temple is a historically and culturally significant temple located in Nara City, Nara Prefecture, Japan, and serves as a central figure in Japanese Buddhism. Within the grounds of Todaiji stands the world's largest wooden structure, the Great Buddha Hall. This magnificent building spans 57 meters in length, 50 meters in width, and 48 meters in height.
Inside the Great Buddha Hall, the largest bronze statue in Japan, known as the "Great Buddha of Nara," is enshrined. This Great Buddha stands 14.98 meters tall and weighs approximately 500 tons, impressing visitors with its overwhelming size and presence.

Todaiji is also a highly popular tourist destination. The temple becomes especially lively during the spring cherry blossom season and the autumn foliage season, attracting numerous visitors. Adjacent to Todaiji is Nara Park, where wild deer roam and are cherished by tourists. The deer are considered messengers of the gods in Nara and are treated as sacred beings.

Todaiji Temple has had a significant impact on Japan's history and culture, and its value continues to be recognized today as an important tourist spot, beloved by many.

At the rear of Todaiji Temple, on the north side, is the Shosoin repository.
