Kofukuji is home to the largest wooden building in Japan after Todaiji's Daibutsuden, the Hokuendo, which houses the national treasure statue of Emperor Shomu. The East and West Towers are also designated as national treasures and house numerous cultural assets.

Among the famous tourist spots in Kofukuji are the five-story pagoda of the East Tower and the three-story pagoda of the West Tower. The five-story pagoda is Japan's oldest wooden five-story pagoda and is designated as a national treasure. In the spring, the weeping cherry blossoms within the temple grounds are also a famous sight, attracting many tourists.

Furthermore, Kofukuji has numerous buildings and cultural assets within its extensive grounds that allow visitors to appreciate the evolution of Japanese architecture and art from ancient times to the Middle Ages. The national treasure statue of Maitreya and the dry lacquer statues of the eight attendants are also housed within the temple grounds, making it a must-see attraction for those interested in history and culture.

Kofukuji is located in Nara city and is about a 20-minute walk from JR Nara Station. As there are many other tourist attractions in Nara city, it is recommended to combine a visit to Kofukuji with other spots. Additionally, to the south of Kofukuji is the "Naramachi" area.
