The Tatsumi and Kun turrets, built on the site of the main enclosure, are two of only 12 three-story turrets remaining in Japan, and are designated Important Cultural Properties.
Highlights within the park include the waterfront of Go-no-ike Pond, its rows of cherry blossoms, and the "Musashi Garden." Rowing and swan boating are popular activities at Go-no-ike Pond, offering a 360-degree view of cherry blossoms from the water in spring and stunning autumn foliage in autumn. Musashi's Garden, a replica of a feudal lord's garden, is based on the tree-lined mansion that Miyamoto Musashi, who was involved in the layout of Akashi, is said to have created. The pond and artificial hills create a serene and elegant atmosphere. Enjoy history, nature, and photogenic scenery all at once.
Known as one of Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Spots, the garden is bustling with visitors every year (the number of trees in the garden ranges from 1,000 to 1,400). Special openings of both turrets are held each season, and in autumn 2025, the interior of the Kun Turret will be open to the public only on weekends and holidays (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM).
