Located in Toba City, Mie Prefecture, it is one of the largest and most popular aquariums in Japan.
There are about 1,200 species of creatures on display, including creatures from around the world, with a focus on creatures from the seas and rivers near Japan.

It is the only place in Japan that breeds and exhibits dugongs, which are popular as mermaid legends.
Sea lion shows and sea otters are also popular.
