Kawachi Wind Cave is a limestone cave with a total length of about 10,020m located in Taga-cho, Inukami-gun, Shiga Prefecture. Boasting the fourth longest length in Japan, it is designated as a natural monument of Shiga Prefecture.
Kawachi Wind Cave is said to have been formed about 550,000 years ago, and you can see many beautiful formations such as stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave. In addition, the temperature inside the cave is maintained at a constant 12 to 13 degrees Celsius throughout the year, so it is cool in summer and warm in winter, making it a popular summer resort.
