Nangu Taisha is the first shrine in Mino Province and enshrines Kanayamahiko no Mikoto, the god of mines.
Nangu Taisha has a long history and is said to have been built during the reign of Emperor Jinmu. It is also listed in the Engishiki Jinmyocho of the Heian period as the only Meishin Taisha in Mino.

The main hall of Nangu Taisha is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan and was built in a unique style called Nangu-zukuri. Nangu-zukuri is a majestic structure that fuses Japanese and Chinese styles.

Nangu Taisha has long been worshiped as the head shrine of the mining and metal industry in Japan. Every year, many worshipers come from all over the country.
