This shrine is known as the only Inari shrine in the country that is written as "Inari". The writing "Inari" is similar to the word "naru" (to make a wish), so it is said to bring good luck in business prosperity, bountiful harvests, and household safety, and many worshippers visit the shrine. The main shrine is built on the slope of a mountain, and the view of the castle town of Tsuwano looking down from there is also exceptional.
There is an unusual custom of offering "fried tofu and candles".
It is a popular spot for tourists, and we recommend visiting in search of beautiful scenery and blessings while experiencing Tsuwano's history and culture. There are plenty of souvenirs available, especially inari sushi and fox masks.
Nearby are the ruins of Tsuwano Castle and Eimyo-ji Temple, with its atmospheric thatched roof.
[Trivia]
The "Inari" in Taikodani Inari Shrine's name is a rare spelling nationwide, as it is said to bring the blessing of "wish fulfillment" because it is related to "nari" (to make a wish).
[Hidden gem]
At the back of the main shrine, after climbing up the Senbon Torii, there is a place for "Wishing Aburaage" where you can offer "Aburaage" (fried tofu) with your wishes. It is a unique way to worship, so it is a good idea to try it.
