This is an unfinished shrine on Miyajima Island in Hiroshima Prefecture that was ordered to be built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. From the spacious open space, you can see the main shrine building and pagoda of Itsukushima Shrine.
"Toyokuni Shrine" is a large building commonly known as "Senjokaku". Toyotomi Hideyoshi ordered its construction in 1596, but it has remained unfinished since his death. The spacious wooden floor, as its name suggests, is about 857 tatami mats in size, and the pillars and ceiling remain intact, creating an open space. Although it is located right next to Itsukushima Shrine, it is a unique presence with a different atmosphere.

When you enter Senjokaku, you can feel the spacious space and the comfortable breeze blowing through, and feel a tranquility that is different from the hustle and bustle of Itsukushima Shrine. From here, you can see the main shrine building of Itsukushima Shrine, the five-story pagoda, and even the large torii gate floating in the sea, and you can view the symbol of Miyajima from various angles. It is the perfect place to spend some time relaxing while feeling the traces of Hideyoshi's grand dream.
